Apex Management Solutions has joined forces with the Veterans in Sefton project, providing free use of minibuses, resources, fuel and training and employment opportunities.
The specialist transport provider has been discussing opportunities for partnering with the Sefton-based charity throughout Covid lockdown, and is now able to put its exciting plans into fruition as restrictions begin to lift.
Apex will provide free use of its minibuses to take groups to the Welsh Mountains for vital break away weekends, as well as offering pick up and drop off for some of the regular social sessions.
Moving forward, Apex will offer training opportunities in both driving and support roles with the potential of long term employment.
Dave Smith of Veterans in Sefton explained; “It’s brilliant to be able to work closely with Apex, a local company who are keen to make an impact. We don’t always necessarily want additional funding, what we want is real and tangible support where we find practical ways that will make a lasting and positive impact on the people we work with. We are keen to work in partnership with businesses and are able to save considerable costs by working in this way.”
Veterans in Sefton provide critical support to former veterans across the borough whose ages range from 16 to 95. According to NHS figures, there are an estimated 27,000 veterans under the age of 65 in Sefton, around 13 per cent of whom have complex issues that need to be addressed.
Dave continues: “We’ve been talking through ideas for several months now and its brilliant to finally be able to put firm plans in place for our first away trip where we’ll use the Apex minibus.”
As an official partner of Veterans in Sefton, the team has nominated Apex for the Armed Forces Covenant which recognises organisations, businesses and individuals who support the veterans.
Dave added: “We have a really exciting partnership plan in place with Apex and their commitment to us undoubtedly deserves recognition, and so we we’re really pleased to be able to nominate them for the Armed Forces Covenant.”
Stephen Heneghan, Managing Director of Apex added: “Veterans in Sefton is a brilliant charity that delivers vital work to so many across Sefton. Run largely by veterans, there is a real sense of understanding as they explore the often complex issues affecting the lives of the veterans they work with, and find a tangible way forward.
“Its fantastic to be able to help and support them in this way and now as lockdown is lifting, we can begin to help get them on the road!!”
